New Trier Green hockey wins state title in overtime thriller against Glenbrook North
One of the state’s elite hockey programs once again hoisted the ultimate prize.
New Trier Green captured another state championship Sunday, March 21, by defeating Glenbrook North 1-0 at the Pleasant Prairie RecPlex in Wisconsin.
Sophomore Butler Chessen scored the game-winning goal for the Trevians in overtime, which is played under a sudden-death, winner-take-all format.
The state championship victory is New Trier Green’s fourth since 2016. The Trevs won the title in 2019, and seemed poised to play in another title game in 2020 before the COVID-19 pandemic abruptly ended their season.
