Ballot Briefs: Get to know the candidates in uncontested races in New Trier Township
All New Trier Township voters will see at least one contested race appear on their ballots this local election season, but they will also be faced with several uncontested ones.
Below is a listing of all uncontested New Trier Township races.
Glencoe
Glencoe Village President — 1 seat for 1 applicant
Howard James Roin, a caucus-slated candidate, is likely Glencoe’s next village president as incumbent Lawrence Levin is not running.
Glencoe Village Board — 3 seats for 3 applicants
Incumbents Gary Ruben and Gail Lissner join Dudley Onderdonk, a current member of the Glencoe Park District Board, on the ballot. The three are caucus-slated candidates. Incumbent Barbara Miller is not running.
Glencoe Park Board — 3 seats for 3 applicants
Incumbent Stefanie Boron and newcomers Brandon Hinkle and Bart Schneider, three caucus-endorsed candidates, are running. Current Park Board members Onderdonk and Josh Lutton are not running.
Glencoe D35 School Board — 4 seats for 4 applicants
Newcomers Enna Allen and Joshua Markus will be on the ballot along with incumbents Marcus Gale and Kelly Prout Glauberman. School Board members Ashley Kain Silver and Melissa Estes are not running for reelection. All four candidates are caucus endorsed.
Glencoe Library Board — 5 seats for 5 applicants
Board veterans Bruce Ronner, Laura Solon and John Tuohy join Michael Pope and Beth Schnecker on the ballot. Current Board President Kathy Doyle and incumbent Teresa Grosch are not running.
Winnetka
Winnetka Village President — 1 seat for 1 applicant
Incumbent Chris Rintz is slated to serve his second term as Winnetka Village President as he will be the lone candidate on the ballot.
Winnetka Village Council — 3 seats for 3 applicants
Current council members Andrew Cripe and Rob Dearborn join newcomer Kim Mancini on the ballot. Incumbent Jack Coladarci is not running.
Winnetka Park Board — 3 seats for 3 applicants.
Warren James and Eric Lussen, both board incumbents, and Colleen Root will be on the ballot. Teresa Claybrook, a current board member, is not running for reelection.
Winnetka-Northfield Library Board — 5 seats for 5 applicants
Newcomers Melissa Mitchell, Thomas Sundel and Todd Van Neck will appear on the ballot alongside incumbents Sarah Munoz and Jean-Paul Ruiz-Funes. Three incumbents will not seek reelection, as Katherine Casale MacNally, Raheela Gill Anwar and Brian Johnson are not running.
Winnetka D36 School Board — 3 seats for 3 applicants
With three seats available, just one incumbent, Steve Cirulis, is slated to return to the board. Dan Waters and Alyssa Rapp will also be on the ballot. Two incumbents, Nat Roberts and Scott Conine, are not running for reelection.
Northfield
Northfield Village President — 1 seat for 1 applicant
Current Village Board trustee Greg Lungmus will likely be Northfield’s next president as he’s running for the seat unopposed. In late 2020, current village president Joan Frazier told The Record she would be running for reelection; however, the incumbent reversed course and did not file an application to run. Lungmus was selected by the Northfield Caucus prior to Frazier’s decision.
Northfield Village Board — 3 seats for 3 applicants
Three new residents are slated to serve as Northfield trustees. Matthew A. Galin, Barnaby Dinges and Tracey Mendrek are running for the board, while incumbents Lungmus (running for village unopposed for president), John Goodwin and Thomas Terill are not vying for re-election.
Kenilworth
Kenilworth Village Clerk — 1 seat for 1 applicant
Kenilworth will have a new village clerk as Patrick Garvey is not running. Michael Gagnon is the caucus-endorsed candidate.
Kenilworth Park Board — 3 seats for 3 applicants:
Three incumbents — John Hart, Emily D’Souza and Stacey Sunderland — are running for re-election unopposed.
Kenilworth D38 School Board — four seats for four applicants
Two incumbents, Stephen Potter and Willian Graham, and two newcomers , Ashish Kaura and Paul Anderson are running this cycle.
Kenilworth Library Board — four seats for four applicants
Four new faces are headed to the Kenilworth Library Board: Julia Atkin, Alexandra Buck, Peter Driscoll and Kathryn Kirrish. All four are caucus-slated candidates. The four incumbents leaving the board are Kay Alexander, Kathleen Lyman, Betsy Moerschel and Betsy Kilroy.
New Trier Township
Township Supervisor — 1 seat for 1 applicant
New Trier Township will have a new supervisor as incumbent Alan Goldberg is not seeking re-election. Current Township trustee Gail Eisenberg is running unopposed for supervisor. The New Trier Citizens League slated Eisenberg as the candidate for supervisor.
Township Clerk — 1 seat for 1 applicant
Longtime Township clerk Jerome Hoynes is not running for another term. Nicole Capretta, also slated by The New Trier Citizens League, is running for the position.
Township Assessor — 1 seat for 1 applicant
Incumbent and caucus-endorsed candidate Jan Churchwell is running unopposed for re-election.
Township trustee — 4 seats for 4 applicants
Incumbents John Thomas, Elliott Robbins and Stefan Mozer, and newcomer Danielle Rubin, are running for township trustee. The four candidates are caucus-slated.
