Police Reports: Stolen bikes jewelry, booze and more

These reports were pulled from police summaries provided by departments in our coverage area (Wilmette, Winnetka, Northfield, Kenilworth and Glencoe) during the week of Sunday-Saturday, Jan. 24-31.

Wilmette:

There were 69 incidents of Illinois Department of Employment Services — later referred to as IDES — fraud filed between Jan. 22-29 in Wilmette.

Jan. 28

• A bike was stolen from a bike rack in the 1100 block of Dartmouth Street.

Jan. 25

• A vehicle’s windshield was damaged in the 400 block of Maple Avenue.

Jan. 24

• Numerous pieces of jewelry were reported stolen from a home in the 100 block of Linden Avenue.

• Several bottles of liquor were stolen from a liquor cabinet at a store in the 1500 block of Sheridan Road.

Jan. 23

• There were two reports of fraud, including a prepaid credit card opened in a resident’s name and purchases made with another resident’s information.

Kenilworth:

There were 11 incidents of IDES fraud filed between Jan. 22-29 in Kenilworth.

Winnetka:

There were 23 incidents of IDES fraud filed through Jan. 24 in Winnetka.

Jan. 22

• An unlocked vehicle was entered between Jan. 21-22 in the 100 block of Apple Tree Road. Change and a pair of sunglasses were stolen, totaling to a loss of $24.

Jan. 20

• An unlocked bike, worth $500, was stolen between 4:41-6:06 p.m. from a bike rack at the Hubbard Woods train station, 1065 Gage St.

Jan. 17

• A homeowner discovered at 3 p.m. that reportedly an unknown subject attempted to enter their residence through an unlocked door in the 500 block of Sheridan Road. The case is under investigation.

Glencoe:

There were 18 incidents of IDES fraud filed between Jan. 21-26 in Glencoe.

Jan. 15

• Several bottle of liquor, worth more than $300 total, were reported stolen from a business in the 0-100 block of Green Bay Road.

Northfield

There were five incidents of IDES fraud filed between Jan. 18-23 in Northfield.

Jan. 21

• At 5:04 p.m., a male subject left Mariano’s, 1822 Willow Road, without paying for items in his cart and left the property with the shopping cart. Officers checked the area but could not locate the subject.

Jan. 18

• Andrea L. Majewski, 49, of Wadsworth, was arrested by the Lake County Sheriff’s Office on Jan. 18 for an outstanding warrant with Northfield Police. Majewski was charged with one count of felony deceptive practices after she allegedly purchased a 2019 Land Rover with fraudulent means in June 2020 from Fields Land Rover, 670 West Frontage Road, according to Northfield Police Sergeant Michael Hutensky. She has a pending court date on Feb. 9.
