News Briefs: $2K food pantry donation; energy-saving virtual event
Winnetka real estate office donates $2K to New Trier Food Pantry
The Winnetka office of Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Chicago and the firm’s philanthropic arm, the Kindness Foundation, donated $2,000 to the New Trier Township Food Pantry in December 2020. The money was part of a $40,000 donation pool distributed to local food pantries in place of the company’s annual holiday party.
Julie Bradbury Miller, managing broker of the firm’s Winnetka office, said they were pleased to support the New Trier Township Food Pantry.
“With need so great, and even increased as a result of the pandemic, hunger is a very real problem in our communities,” she added. “We thank the pantry for the important work they do.”
The Winnetka office was one of the company’s 19 participating offices throughout Chicagoland, as well as in Indiana and Michigan. Each office chose a 501(c)(3) organization from their local community to embody the mission of the Kindness Foundation which is to support meaningful local initiatives that improve the communities the company serves and enhances the quality of life for fellow citizens.
The New Trier Township Food Pantry, established in 1965, serves as a bridge between those who have the ability to give and those who are in need. The shelves are stocked through donations from the community.
