A New Trier High School group participated in a Chicago tradition on Thanksgiving morning.

Dancers young and old to take stage Sunday
The Highland Park-based Time to Dance Ensemble dancers, with co-founders Dr. Chervony Belsky and Lisa Gold, are teaming with North Shore School of Dance students for “The Peanut Cracker” at 10:30 a.m. on Sunday, Dec. 8.
These performances will feature more than 70 dancers from age 3 to 80 at the Cressey Center for the Arts at Lake Forest Academy, 1500 W. Kennedy Road, in Lake Forest.
Young dancers from North Shore School of Dance have performed “The Peanut Cracker” for nearly a decade, but this year, dancers age 50 to 80 from Time to Dance will make a guest appearance in the program for “The March of the Toy Soldiers.”
“All of the TTD dancers are super excited about these performances,” Belsky said. “‘The Nutcracker’ has been part of our lives in one way or another for literally decades, and this is a chance to create a whole new memory for the dancers and their families around this holiday treasure.”
Tickets for “The Peanut Cracker” are $18. For tickets visit northshoredance.com.
The school’s ballet theater presents its traditional staging of “The Nutcracker” on Dec. 11-12 also at Lake Forest Academy. For more information about “The Nutcracker,” visit Northshoredance.com.
Glencoe’s outdoor rinks ready for season
The cold ain’t all bad. The Glencoe Park District has opened the Weinberg Family Recreation Center ice rinks for the season, as of Friday, Nov. 29.
The facility offers several options for individuals and families to enjoy the rinks. Season passes, granting unlimited access to the rink seven days a week, can be purchased online, at the Takiff Center, or at the Weinberg Family Recreation Center. Guest passes are also available for purchase, allowing season pass holders to bring up to five friends for a skating session.
Daily admission is available Monday through Friday. Only season pass holders are permitted to use the rink on Saturdays and Sundays.
The facility features two rinks: a main NHL-sized rink and a smaller studio rink. A flexible schedule allows the main rink to transition between open skate and open hockey sessions to accommodate the needs of visitors.
Make sure to check the rink schedule for more details.
