New owner, same subdivision plans in Glencoe

Forest Edge construction has begun on Green Bay Road.

Work is underway for a major Glencoe development on Green Bay Road.

The Forest Edge Subdivision, on the former property of the Hoover Estate, 1801 Green Bay Road, is under new ownership as of July. Village officials say the approved subdivision details remain; however, the new owners will now sell the 29 vacant lots, instead of constructed homes.

Construction on the site is ongoing to install infrastructure for future homes. Road resurfacing and landscaping along Carol Lane is also underway.

The Glencoe Village Board approved the Forest Edge Subdivision in October 2020. On 12 acres formerly known as the Hoover Estate, the original plan was to demolish a single-family home and “accessory buildings” on the 12.2-acre property and build 29 single-family residential lots.

But after the subdivision was approved, a neighbor filed a lawsuit against Hoover Owner LLC, the owner of the subdivision’s property. That lawsuit, according to village documents, was settled with the agreement to transfer 5,013 square feet of property to the southern neighbor. Combined with other economic factors, the lawsuit put a delay on construction, other than the demolition of structures on the property.

Following the settlement, amended plans for the subdivision were approved at the Village Board’s regular meeting on May 16. Also at the meeting, trustees were made aware that the property’s owner planned to sell. A transaction was completed two months later.
