(Editor’s note: This story was updated with crash and arrest details on Monday, Dec. 7.)
No one was seriously injured during a car accident involving four vehicles on Willow Road Friday afternoon.
One driver, Angel Estrada, 26, of Chicago, was arrested by Northfield police on multiple traffic offenses, including possessing heroin and using a cellphone while driving, according to Sgt. Michael Hutensky.
Hutensky said that Estrada was driving eastbound on Willow in a white cargo van while using his cellphone, when he rear-ended a car stopped at Lagoon Drive.
As a result, two other cars were struck at the intersection, and the van ended up in a bank connected to Skokie Lagoons on the northwest side of the intersection.
Estrada was also charged with failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident and driving on a suspended license. His next court day is Thursday, Dec. 10, in Skokie.
