Charlie Puth, Ne-Yo, ‘Encanto’ show highlight Ravinia’s 2023 lineup
Though the weather outside is frightful, a sure sign of a North Shore summer emerged Thursday when Ravinia Festival reeleased its 2023 season lineup.
The season runs from June 6-Sept. 10 at the outdoor venue in Highland Park. It will include Ravinia debuts by 50 artists and more than 100 concerts.
Public ticket sales open at 8 a.m. May 1 at Ravinia.org. Donors have online access to tickets as early as next Wednesday, March 22. Tickets range from the lawn to the concert pavilion.
The 2023 lineup features rock/pop, R&B, classical, jazz and country, to indie, movies with live orchestra, the American Songbook, Fiesta Ravinia and more, according to a press release.
“Ravinia’s 2023 season has something for everyone,” said Jeffrey P. Haydon, Ravinia’s president and CEO, in the release. “From shining a spotlight on women composers across multiple genres to bringing the best in pop, rock, jazz and classical to our varied stages, Ravinia’s summer offerings reflect the wide-ranging musical tastes of Chicago and beyond. Whether you’re attending for the first or 15th time, a concert here is a special experience and one we hope our audiences will treasure.”
Ravinia debuts include Charlie Puth, Ne-Yo, Natalia Lafourcade and Boyz II Men, among others.
Returning artists are Santana, Carrie Underwood, Chicago, Train, Lara Downes, Jason Mraz, Michael Feinstein, Brandi Carlile, John Legend, Buddy Guy, Pat Metheny, Kenny Loggins, Heather Headley and more.
The Chicago Symphony Orchestra also returns for its six-week residency beginning July 14. It will feature three weeks of programs led by chief conductor Marin Alsop and three weeks with distinguished guest conductors.
Amplifying the theme of “Breaking Barriers” this year, most CSO programs will include at least one piece by a woman composer, the release says.
Families can also experience a variety of events this summer, like “Encanto” in Concert, “Jurassic Park” 30th Anniversary in Concert, plus other live performances.
The season will be completed with a daylong celebration of Mexican culture called Fiesta Ravinia. The seventh annual event will feature performances, such as Mexican pop rock bank Reik, and activities throughout the park, the release adds.
Ravinia is well-known for its concert lawn space, where guests can bring their own picnics, including food and liquor. Other dining options are available at the park. For more information, visit www.ravinia.org.
