Police Reports: 3 Winnetka businesses broken into, 2 cars stolen in Wilmette

These reports were pulled from the latest police summaries provided by departments in our coverage area (Wilmette, Winnetka, Northfield, Kenilworth and Glencoe).

WILMETTE

Feb. 23

• A resident reportedly was scammed out of an undisclosed amount of money after paying a caller to fix a computer issue.

Feb. 22

• A wallet reportedly was stolen from an unlocked car in the 2200 block of Greenwood Avenue. Credit cards in the wallet reportedly were fraudulently used.

• A rear window and steering column reportedly were damaged on a Kia Sorento in the 1300 block of Central Avenue.

Feb. 21

• A car reportedly was stolen from in front of a home in the 900 block of 10th Street.

• A car reportedly was stolen from the driveway in the 1000 block of Greenwood Avenue. The report says the car’s keys were inside a separate unlocked vehicle at the same location.

• Street signs marking Illinois Road, Laramie Avenue and Old Glenview Road reportedly were missing.

Feb. 19

• Cash reportedly was taken from a home in the 3500 block of Lake Avenue while the homeowners reportedly was out of town.

Feb. 17

• A watch reportedly was stolen in the “last several months” from a home in the 2200 block of Greenwood Avenue.

WINNETKA

Feb. 19

• A case of tools ($970) reportedly was stolen from the 500 block of Chestnut Street.

Feb. 17

• Jewelry and cash worth more than $5,000 reportedly was taken from the Winnetka Thrift Shop, 992 Green Bay Road. Two other businesses nearby reportedly were also broken into; however, it is unclear what, if anything, was taken.

Feb. 13

• A catalytic converter reportedly was taken from a car parked at the Metra lot, 754 Elm St.

• The hood of car reportedly was damaged in the 800 block of Boal Parkway

GLENCOE

Feb. 16

• An attempt to deposit a check for $138,860 reportedly was made on a resident’s bank account. The bank stopped the deposit, the report says.

NORTHFIELD

Feb. 15

• A resident reportedly was scammed out of approximately $12,200 when the resident transferred the funds attempting to arrange travel.

KENILWORTH

No reported activity between Feb. 11-17
