Tee time set for second The Record Open charity outing

Here’s a great way to drive responsible local news for your community.

Join The Record North Shore on the golf course on Friday, Sept. 23, for the nonprofit newsroom’s second charity golf outing in support of responsible, nonpartisan community news. 

Tee time for the The Record Open II is set for 9 a.m. that day at Canal Shores Golf Course, a one-of-a-kind golf experience that stretches between Wilmette and Evanston. All proceeds from the event go directly into impactful local reporting.

In last year’s inaugural Record Open, participants enjoyed a boxed lunch from local sponsor Pit & Tap, while the victors — including foursome Monica Thompson, Alex Thompson, Julia Goebel and Julie Saltzman — claimed cash prizes.

In regard to COVID-19, safety guidelines from the CDC and local public health departments will be observed.

All participating golfers will receive 18 holes with a cart, special lunch from sponsor and Wilmette barbecue restaurant Pit & Tap, a drink ticket and chances to win a number of contests, including lowest group score, Longest Drive and Closest to the Pin. 

Check in for the tournament begins at 8 a.m. with a shotgun start at 9 a.m. The format is a scramble, in which the team selects the best shot and all balls are then played from that spot.
