Police Reports: Work equipment stolen, mailed check altered and cashed

These reports were pulled from the latest police summaries provided by departments in our coverage area (Wilmette, Winnetka, Northfield, Kenilworth and Glencoe).

WILMETTE

April 7

• Landscaping equipment reportedly was stolen from a construction trailer in the 100 block of Linden Avenue. Force allegedly was used to enter the trailer.

April 5

• A package reportedly was taken from the front porch of a home in the 2100 block of Greenwood Avenue.

• Graffiti, which included a five-pointed star, reportedly was left on the former Imperial Motors building in the 700 block of Green Bay Road.

April 3

• A catalytic converter reportedly was stolen from a car in the 3200 block of Old Glenview Road.

• An unknown individual reportedly took retail items without paying for them at Walgreen’s, 3232 Lake Ave.

March 28

• A catalytic converter reportedly was stolen from a truck in the 3600 block of Lake Avenue.

WINNETKA

April 1

• A utility box at Green Bay Road and Oak Street reportedly was vandalized with spray paint. The reported loss is $250.

March 30

• A mailed check reportedly was stolen, altered and cashed for an amount that exceeds $5,000.

GLENCOE

April 5

• A resident reportedly was scammed by a caller purporting to work for Comcast. According to the report, the caller coerced the victim to purchase $2,000 in gift cards and then provide the information from the gift cards to the caller.

NORTHFIELD

KENILWORTH

April 5

• An unlocked bicycle reportedly was stolen from the bike rack at Joseph Sears School 542 Abbotsford Road. The reported loss is $300.

April 4

• A fraudulent T-mobile account reportedly was opened using a resident’s personal information.
