Wilmette trustees upgrade Ridgeview Grill’s liquor license

Wilmette trustees served up an update to Ridgeview Grill’s liquor license that the restaurant’s ownership hopes will expand its business.

The Village Board during its April 22 meeting approved an ordinance granting a new class of liquor license to the longtime eatery on Ridge Road.

The updated license, a Class C-1, will allow Ridgeview Grill to offer takeout and delivery of alcohol. Their now previous license only allowed the retail sale of alcohol for on-premise consumption for its restaurant patrons and the ability to serve alcoholic beverages at a bar, village documents say.

Ridgeview’s current business operations can remain under the new classification but they can offer the delivery and takeout options as well as the filling of growlers and crowlers

In a letter to village officials, Ridgeview Grill owner Valerie Javaras said the “change will be positive for everyone.”

Ridgeview Grill, located at 827 Ridge Road, first opened in 1961 and serves breakfast through dinner.
