Police Reports: Loaded gun found on Winnetka street, a fake Rolex transaction and other online scams

The following reports were pulled from the latest police summaries provided by departments in our coverage area (Wilmette, Winnetka, Highland Park, Northfield, Kenilworth and Glencoe).

WINNETKA

A loaded firearm was recovered from a Winnetka street on Friday morning, April 11, according to the Winnetka Police Department.

Deputy Chief Dylan Majcher said a resident called the department to report the “discarded” handgun on Bryant Avenue, which is just south of Tower Road and a block west of Sheridan Road.

Majcher said the incident is under investigation and declined to provide further details, such as how or when the weapon appeared in that location.

The loaded weapon reportedly was not handled by the resident.

• A resident reportedly was scammed out of $1,200 after responding to a purported Xfinity employee and sending the individual new iPhones.

• A backpack containing a collection of trading cards reportedly was stolen between 5:30-8:11 p.m. on April 4 from a business at 620 Lincoln Ave.

WILMETTE

April 11

• A package reportedly was taken from a front porch in the 2100 block of Old Glenview Road.

• Credit cards reportedly were stolen from the wallet of an individual who was at work in the 100 block of Green Bay Road.

April 7

• A grocery delivery reportedly was stolen from a front porch in the 400 block of Washington Avenue.

GLENCOE

April 6

• A resident reportedly purchased a fraudulent Rolex watch for $5,000 from a seller on Facebook Marketplace.

April 5

• A resident reportedly was scammed out of nearly $2,000 by a caller purporting to be from Chase Bank.

HIGHLAND PARK

April 8

• Merchandise reportedly was stolen from Target, 2099 Skokie Valley Road.

NORTHFIELD

No reported incidents that meet The Record’s standards for publication.

KENILWORTH
