School Board member resigns as Winnetka District 36 investigates bus ‘behavior’

A Winnetka School Board member has resigned amid a district investigation into an incident that took place on a district school bus.

In response to Record questions about a potential March incident involving Katherine Myers-Crum, a first-term member of the Winnetka District 36 Board of Education, the district responded that it recently opened an investigation into “behavior” on a school bus.

Citing the ongoing internal investigation, the district declined to share further details about the alleged incident. The Record filed a public-records request on Wednesday, March 19, in search of more details.

Myers-Crum submitted her resignation to the School Board on March 18, according to an emailed message Board President Dan Waters sent to district families on March 19.

Myers-Crum did not return messages from The Record.

A Winnetka Caucus-endorsed candidate, Myers-Crum was elected to the District 36 School Board in 2023. She is the founder of Great Lakes Academy Charter School, an attorney and an education consultant.
