Police Reports: Stolen bikes, fraudulent account activity

The following reports were pulled from the latest police summaries provided by departments in our coverage area (Wilmette, Winnetka, Highland Park, Northfield, Kenilworth and Glencoe).

WILMETTE

Feb. 5

• A package reportedly was stolen from the doorstep of a home in the 900 block of Sheridan Road.

• A car was recovered by police after it reportedly was in an accident and was abandoned at 10:45 p.m. in an intersection at Laramie and Illinois Road.

WINNETKA

Feb. 5

• An unlocked bicycle reportedly was stolen between 4:48-5:45 p.m. on Feb. 2 from a parking lot at 925 Green Bay Road.

GLENCOE

Jan. 31

• A caller purporting to be from Citibank reportedly attempted to scam a resident out of $21,741 by pretending to confirm a fraudulent charge via text and then initiating a wire transfer.

HIGHLAND PARK

Feb. 5

• A bicycle reportedly was stolen from a bike rack near Starbucks, 1849 Green Bay Road.

Feb. 4

• Two fraudulent checks totaling $6,800 reportedly were cashed to a local business account.

Feb. 3

• Graffiti reportedly was found on an electrical box and light post in Sunset Woods Park, 1801 Sunset Road.

• A walker that contained personal documents and cash reportedly was stolen from the lobby of a building in the 400 block of Central Avenue.

NORTHFIELD

Feb. 7

• Approximately $2,600 in fraudulent withdrawals reportedly were made from a resident’s online account.
