The event is also collecting new socks for the unsheltered and will host projects that benefit veterans, hospitalized individuals, unhoused individuals, senior citizens and orphaned animals. For more information, email info@volunteercenterhelps.org
IN WILMETTE … Radical Generosity and the Woman’s Club of Wilmette are again partnering to package warm clothing items to benefit the unsheltered. The event takes place from 10 a.m.-1 p.m.
IN GLENCOE … North Shore United Methodist Church, 213 Hazel Ave., is welcoming community members from 10 a.m.-noon to create plastic sleeping mats to support unhoused individuals in Chicagoland. The program is in partnership with Gratitude Generation, a Deerfield-based organization. All supplies will be provided. For more info, contact the church at info@northshoreumc.com or (847) 835-1227.
HIGHLAND PARK’S … annual MLK Jr. Day of Service has shifted to Feb. 17 because of Monday’s conflict with Inauguration Day for U.S. President-elect Donald Trump — a recommendation from the city’s Human Relations Advisory Group. The Feb. 17 Day of Service will take place from 10 a.m.-12:30 p.m. at the Recreation Center of Highland Park, 1207 Park Ave. W. A variety of service projects, presentations and performances are scheduled for the annual event, which is hosted by the City of Highland Park, Human Relations Advisory Group and the Park District of Highland Park.
