Vehicle strikes, seriously injures woman walking her dog in Northfield

A 72-year-old Glenview women suffered serious injuries when she was struck by a car on Thursday morning in Northfield.

According to the Northfield Police Department a motorist was attempting to turn right from Main Street onto Waukegan Road at approximately 8:36 a.m. Thursday when he hit the women who was walking her dog across the crosswalk.

The woman sustained “incapacitating injuries,” according to the department, and was transported to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital. She was still under hospital care as of 8 p.m. Thursday.

The Northfield Police Department and regional crash task force continue to investigate the incident, which shut down Waukegan Road from Willow Road to Winnetka Road for about six hours.
