Hoffmann announces more Winnetka acquisitions — and one will include an Oberweis location
As promised, North Shore’s largest commercial property owner keeps growing.
Hoffmann Commercial announced in December the pending acquisitions of two neighboring Winnetka buildings: 510 Winnetka Ave. (final) and 530 Winnetka Ave. (under contract).
The first purchase, 510 Winnetka Ave., is a multi-use development at the southwest corner of Green Bay Road and Winnetka Avenue. Its first floor was home to Shabahang Royal Carpet, which as of press time had papered-over windows.
According to Hoffmann’s announcement, and a sign on the building’s front window, 510 Winnetka Ave. will soon be home to an Oberweis Ice Cream & Dairy Store. Hoffmann also announced the acquisition of nine other properties — seven in Illinois — that currently feature Oberweis locations.
“We are thrilled to announce our latest acquisitions and the new Oberweis ice cream store location in Winnetka,” said Greg Hoffmann, CEO of Hoffmann Commercial, in a press release. “This milestone further enhances the national expansion of Oberweis Ice Cream and supports the growth of this iconic brand. It also represents a positive step forward for the communities involved.”
In May 2024, Hoffmann Commercial acquired Oberweis Dairy, the iconic Illinois brand that filed for bankruptcy protections in April.
The real-estate firm in August 2024 promised a handful of local acquisitions and began with the announcement of 1114-1116 Central in Wilmette, home to The Wild Child toy shop and Koya restaurant; and 64 Green Bay Road in Winnetka, home to Aboyer, a French-inspired fine-dining establishment.
Along with its promise of new local acquisitions, Hoffmann officials said last year that they would open three new Oberweis Dairy and Ice Cream locations in the area.
The moves further cement Hoffmann’s designation as the largest commercial real-estate owner along the North Shore. Hoffmann owns more than 30 properties from Wilmette to Lake Forest, including 20-plus in Winnetka.
Hoffmann’s pending acquisition, 530 Winnetka Ave., is home to medical offices in a one-story building.
“With our contract to acquire 530 Winnetka Avenue, we are excited to further enhance the area and continue supporting the businesses and residents that make Winnetka such a remarkable area,” Greg Hoffmann said in a statement.
Hoffmann’s other acquisitions are: 925 S Route 59 in Bartlett; 338 W. Army Trail Road in Bloomingdale; 2105 N. Veterans Parkway in Bloomington, Illinois; 4568 and 4590 Telegraph Road in Oakville, Missouri; 1816 Highway K in O’Fallon, Missouri; 7202 W. 159th Street in Orland Park, Illinois; 1735 Algonquin Road in Rolling Meadows; 30 S. Roselle Road in Schaumburg; and 1790 West Main Street in St. Charles.
