FOOTBALL
Highland Park 17, Maine East 8

JT Killeen ran for 93 yards while also recording six tackles for loss in the Giants’ victory on Friday, Oct. 18, in Highland Park.

Lucas Gordon caught a 35-yard touchdown and scored on a 62-yard interception return for Highland Park (2-6).

GIRLS VOLLEYBALL
Loyola 27-12-25, Benet Academy 25-25-21

Addie Leadbetter tallied 8 kills and 4 blocks as the Ramblers knocked off previously unbeaten and nationally ranked Benet (33-1) on Wednesday, Oct. 23, in Wilmette.

Grace Kreutz added 11 kills, Ellen Gundlach 7 kills and 3 blocks, Julia York 18 assists, Brea Payne 10 assists and 4 blocks, and Ava Swanson 16 digs for Loyola (28-6).

BOYS SOCCER
New Trier 1, Loyola 0 (PK’s)

Thomas Terry made two penalty-kick saves to help the Trevians survive the regional matchup on Tuesday, Oct. 22.

Cole Driscoll, Yannick Vaughan and Noah Capocchi all found the net in the shootout for New Trier.

Northridge 4, North Shore Country Day 2

The defending state champion Raiders fell in an IHSA Class 1A regional championship on Wednesday, Oct. 23, in Winnetka.

CROSS-COUNTRY
Central Suburban League South Championships

Ben Crane was dominant in his victory for New Trier, running the three-mile race in 14 minutes 15.46 seconds, more than 30 seconds faster than the second-place finisher on Saturday, Oct. 19.

Walter Garrett, Jordan Kreiner and Jonah Swanson finished fourth, fifth and sixth, respectively, for the Trevians, who won the team championship.

Josie Cahill placed third and Kayla Ritchie fifth as the New Trier girls claimed second in the girls’ results.

Central Suburban League North Championships

Lucas Hoobler (15:15.66) and Henry Gamson (15:16.20) went 2-3 for Highland Park (39 points), which also won the team title ahead of Vernon Hills (46) on Oct. 19.

Dylan Dominguez added a sixth-place finish for the Giants.

Maggie Mariano placed fifth and Katie Kubicki 10th for Highland Park in the girls race, where the Giants took second as a team.

GIRLS TENNIS
Maine South Sectional

Ingrid Fielder, a freshman, topped teammate Ava Katz, a junior, to win the sectional championship for New Trier, which also took the team championship on Saturday, Oct. 19, in Park Ridge.

Coco Zabel and Julia Ludwig bested Keri Rothenberg and Ariane Lesterhuis — both Trevian pairs — for the doubles crown.
