Police Reports: Bomb threat at Am Shalom, series of car burglaries in Winnetka
The following reports were pulled from the latest police summaries provided by departments in our coverage area (Wilmette, Winnetka, Highland Park, Northfield, Kenilworth and Glencoe).
WILMETTE
Aug. 24
• A baby stroller reportedly was stolen from an unlocked car in the 1600 block of Highland Avenue.
Aug. 20
• A car and key fob reportedly were stolen from a garage in the 1000 block of Cherokee Road.
• Tools reportedly were stolen from a basement in the 900 block of Illinois Road.
Aug. 15
• Synthetic plants and $500 cash reportedly were stolen from an apartment in the 1600 block of Sheridan Road.
WINNETKA
Aug. 25
• A resident reportedly was scammed out of more than $4,000 after responding to an individual purporting to be the resident’s boss and requesting gift cards.
Aug. 19
• Numerous unlocked vehicles reportedly were illegally entered overnight in the 1100 and 1200 blocks of Cherry Street. A phone charger reportedly was stolen from one of the cars.
GLENCOE
Aug. 15
• Am Shalom reportedly was one of several area temples to receive a bomb threat with ransom instructions. Glencoe Public Safety reportedly noted nothing suspicious on Am Shalom’s property, 840 Vernon Ave., after a “thorough walkthrough of the premises.”
HIGHLAND PARK
Aug. 24
• Two subjects reportedly trespassing on the roof of Wayne Thomas Elementary School were helped down by Highland Park firefighters.
Aug. 20
• A wallet reportedly was stolen from a business in the 600 block of Elm Place.
NORTHFIELD
No incidents reported by press time (Tuesday, Aug. 27).
KENILWORTH
Aug. 20
• An unlocked car reportedly was stolen between 2-3 a.m. from a driveway in the 300 block of Melrose Avenue. The vehicle reportedly was located in Chicago.
• Five cars reportedly were burglarized overnight at three Kenilworth homes, one each in the 300 block of Warwick, 200 block of Melrose and 300 block of Kenilworth Avenue.
