Fajitas + you this Thursday helps fund nonprofit news

A portion of your Fajita Pete’s order will benefit The Record North Shore

While it may be TexMex on the menu, the cause couldn’t be more local.

The Record North Shore and Fajita Pete’s are teaming up on Thursday, July 11, for a Spirit Day to fundraise for local journalism.

Whether it’s a special meal at the office or a poolside treat for the family, 15% of your lunch or dinner bill on July 11 (for pickup or delivery) will be donated to your nonprofit local newsroom, TheRecordNorthShore.org.

It’s simple to order:

1. Visit www.chicagotexmex.com, use the Fajita Pete’s app, or call the store at (224) 377-8376 for pickup or delivery on July 11. (Advance orders are preferred!)

2. Include “The Record” in your order notes (If you forget, that’s OK, it will still be included in the final tally).

Fajita Pete’s is carry-out and delivery only and is located at 3207 Lake Ave. As reported by The Record, the restaurant was first approved by the Wilmette Board of Trustees in June 2023 and opened its doors for business in February of 2024.

The Record North Shore launched its nonprofit news site in October of 2020 to restore community news to the area. Reliable local reporting is a public good and should be accessible to all. A majority of the newsroom’s annual revenue comes from its readers, either through donations or subscriptions.

The Record also has reinvented its sponsorship program, streamlining its options for the local business community. Get in touch with ryan@therecordns.org to learn more.

The Record is a nonprofit, nonpartisan community newsroom that relies on reader support to fuel its independent local journalism.
