Police Reports: Two cars stolen from driveways, expensive work equipment taken, airline miles stolen

WILMETTE

• A resident reportedly was scammed out of close to $40,000 by two individuals who first came to his door on July 13. The resident reportedly provided the individuals with $20,000 in payments for paver work before handing over his credit card, which was used to purchase $18,000 in watches, the report says.
Aug. 24
• About 25,000 airline miles reportedly were taken from a resident’s account and used to purchase a ticket to Jamaica.
Aug. 23
• An employee of Big Blue Swim was arrested for allegedly stealing cash and sunglasses from a fellow employee.
• Jewelry valued at $3,000 reportedly is missing from a home in the 600 block of Pine Street.
Aug. 19
• A check for $80 reportedly was stolen from a solicitor purporting to be with a newspaper company.
Aug. 18
• A home reportedly was broken into through an open window while the resident was home. Nothing was reported missing; however, the report says the resident saw a bedroom door open and heard footsteps, and the home’s power box was damaged.
• Work equipment valued at more than $7,000 reportedly was stolen from a construction trailer between 5:40 p.m. and 9 p.m. Oct. 19 in the 200 block of Isabella Street.
WINNETKA

• A car reportedly was stolen from a driveway in the 300 block of Rosewood Ave.
Aug. 18
• A resident reportedly was scammed out of $370 by a person purporting to be an Enterprise representative who asked the resident to purchase gift cards and transfer the information.
Aug. 17
• More than $5,000 in fraudulent charges reportedly were made from a resident’s bank account.
Aug. 16
• Mailed checks reportedly were stolen, altered and cashed in an amount exceeding $5,000.
Aug. 15
• More than $1,000 in unauthorized charged reportedly were made to a resident’s credit card.
• A mailed check reportedly was stolen, altered and cashed for $3,000.
Aug. 14
• An unlocked car reportedly was stolen from a driveway in the 100 block of Myrtle Street.
• Cash reportedly was stolen from an unlocked car on Essex Road.
• More than $5,000 in airline miles reportedly were stolen from a resident’s account and used in unauthorized transactions.
