High School Highlights: New Trier swim/dive dominates league meet, 3 NT basketball players nameed All-Conference

BOYS BASKETBALL
New Trier 62, Niles North 31
Seniors Jake Fiegen and Evan Kanellos and junior Logan Feller were honored before the Central Suburban League title game for their selections to the Central Suburban South All-Conference team.
Fiegen was named the division’s player of the year, and the Trevians (27-4) bested the Vikings in the CSL battle of division champs on Wednesday, Feb. 15.
Loyola 44, Lake View 29
Alex Engro and Andrew Hollerich tallied 13 points apiece in the Ramblers’ victory on Monday, Feb. 13.
PJ Hayes and Brendan Loftus added 7 rebounds each in Loyola’s regular-season finale.
St. Rita 54, Loyola 32
Alex Engro scored 8 points and added 5 rebounds in the Ramblers’ league loss on Friday, Feb. 10.
GIRLS BASKETBALL
Loyola 66, Leyden 16
The Ramblers opened postseason play in the IHSA Class 4A tournament with a victory on Tuesday, Feb. 14, in Wilmette.
Regina 64, Cristo Rey St. Martin 17
Natalia Cerrado and Jillian DeFranza recorded 13 points apiece to lead the Panthers to a regional win in the IHSA Class 2A tournament on Tuesday, Feb. 14.
Payton Olszewski racked up 8 assists and 6 steals for Regina.
New Trier 49, Elk Grove 16
Erin Floyd posted a double-double (12 points, 11 rebounds) to pace the Trevians to a regional victory on Monday, Feb. 13, at Glenbrook South.
Rachael Zacks added 14 points and 7 rebounds and Haley Thompson had 6 points and 7 rebounds for New Trier.
Stevenson 52, Highland Park 14
The Giants’ season came to a close against the reigning IHSA Class 4A champs on Monday, Feb. 13, in the opening round of the postseason.
Highland Park finished 12-14 — 11 more victories than the Giants had in 2021-’22.
BOYS SWIM AND DIVE
Central Suburban South Championships
Aidan Musick (100-yard butterfly, 200 free, 400 free relay) and Charlie Bufton (100 backstroke, 200 individual medley, 400 free relay) claimed three top finishes medals each for New Trier, which claimed the CSL South team title on Saturday, Feb. 11.
Max Lestina (100 free, 50 free[tie]), Graham Wilson (500 free) and Wyatt Welehan (1-meter dive) added individual victories while Wilson and George Angelov were also part of the victorious 400 free relay for the Trevians (411 points), who finished ahead of Glenbrook North (310) and Maine South (210).
Central Suburban North Championships
Danny Castle (200-yard individual medley, 100 backstroke) and Kevin Obochi (100 butterfly, 50 free) earned a pair of individual conference titles each for Highland Park on Saturday, Feb. 11.
Noam Kulback (579.8 points) and Alex Bradshaw (488.05) placed 1-2 in the 1-meter dive for the Giants (352 points), who placed second as a team behind Deerfield (372) and ahead of Vernon Hills (302).
Obochi was joined by Aron Fridman, David Daniels and Ilya Rivkin on the winning 200 free relay, as well.
