High School Highlights: Fall season underway; Ramblers, Trevians tee off

A summary of preps sports competition from area schools over the past week

GIRLS GOLF
New Trier 176, Deerfield 182

Alexa Green shot a 40 for the victorious Trevians on Thursday, Aug. 18, in Winnetka.

New Trier 163, St. Charles East 185

Amy Beanblossom carded a 37 and Kendall Humphries-Solis a 39 to lead the Trevians to the season-opening victory on Monday, Aug. 15, at Pottawatomie Golf Course.

U of C Lab School 175, Regina 221

Maggy Shaw shot a 45 to lead the Panthers in the nonconference match Thursday. Aug. 18.

DePaul Prep 201, Regina 210

Maggie Shaw (46) and Lily Grillo (48) were the low scorers for the Panthers on Tuesday, Aug. 16.

BOYS GOLF
New Trier 144, Lake Forest 156

Millan Biggs’ 35 was the low score the Trevs on Wednesday, Aug. 17, in their season-opener.

Oliver Barr (36), Myles Cunningham (36) and Matthew Greenstein (37) rounded out New Trier’s scoring.

Hersey Invite

Joe Pieracci’s 73 led Loyola Academy to a third-place finish on Tuesday, Aug. 16, at Rolling Green Country Club.

Ryan Banas and Andrew Southwell added 78’s to contribute to the Ramblers score of 309, five strokes off the champion Glenbrook South. Hersey finished second with a 307.

GIRLS TENNIS
Regina 5, Maine West 2

Mimi Waddell pulled of a three-set victory (6-2, 6-7, 1-0) at second singles to help the Panthers to the season-opening win on Thursday, Aug. 18.
