Police Reports: Two unsecured cars stolen, five individuals caught stealing from vehicles

WILMETTE
July 27
• An unsecured car reportedly was stolen from the parking lot at Westmoreland Country Club, 2601 Old Glenview Road. The keys to the car reportedly were left inside of it.
July 26
• A cement address block reportedly was smashed at a home in the 1100 block of Hibbard Road.
• A fire extinguisher reportedly was discharged on an unoccupied Wilmette Park District bus between July 25-26.
• An unsecured bicycle reportedly was stolen from a bike rack at the Gillson Park Sailing Beach, 101 Lake Ave.
July 25
• Five people — three adults and two juveniles — were arrested for reportedly breaking into five vehicles that day on Laporte, Lamon and Lavergne avenues. Police responded to a report of individuals looking into a vehicle and apprehended two sets of individuals after reportedly finding proceeds from the thefts in their vehicles.
• Electronics reportedly were stolen from a car in the 1400 block of Ashland.
July 23
• A car reportedly was stolen from a driveway in the 2200 block of Birchwood Avenue. The report says the car was unlocked with the key inside.
• Two thefts reportedly occurred on July 23 at the Walgreens at 3232 Lake Ave.
WINNETKA
July 21
• Merchandise totaling $174 reportedly was stolen from Mitch’s Cookies, 552 Lincoln Ave., between 11 a.m.-noon on July 19.
July 18
• Mail forwarding reportedly was initiated without the mailbox owner’s consent.
GLENCOE
July 26
• A bottle of liquor reportedly was stolen from Binny’s Beverage Depot, 85 Green Bay Road, on July 18
• A resident reportedly was scammed out of $800 when the resident responded to an email. The messenger purported to be someone the resident knew and had the resident purchase gift cards and provide the information back to the messenger, the report says.
NORTHFIELD
July 19
• A case of identity theft through the IRS was reported to police
KENILWORTH
July 28
• An unlocked bicycle reportedly was stolen from the bike rack at Kenilworth Beach.
