Second Pizza Wednesday host is … Marco Roma! Support the pizzeria and The Record on April 28
The Record’s Pizza Pies for Headlines is really rolling now. Get a slice of the fundraising action at Marco Roma, The Record’s next partner for the four-week giveback series.
The Winnetka pizzeria will be our second restaurant hosting the fundraiser series, donating 10 percent of the night’s sales from 5-9 p.m. Wednesday, April 28, to our nonprofit newsroom. The Record North Shore is an independent media outlet that relies on public financial support.
Marco Roma is located at 14 Green Bay Road, Winnetka, and offers a casual, sit-down space for a variety of red-sauce fare, pizza and subs, according to its website.
Restaurant owner Joe Marchionna chose to help with The Record’s giveback nights for one specific reason.
“We believe a strong local media source is crucial to the community,” Marchionna told The Record in an email. “Localism shouldn’t be limited to supporting small businesses.”
For those looking to support The Record on April 28, Marco Roma will handle the donation from your sale — you just have to order.

Marco Roma’s pizza comes in several different types of crusts: thin, Roma (raised focaccia), Chicago-style deep dish and gluten-free.
Customers can create their own pie or choose from the specialities, like the Speciale (sausage, pepperoni, green pepper, mushroom, red onion), the Rustica (sausage, red pepper, red onion, sweet tomato sauce) and several more.
The restaurant also offers a large variety of appetizers, seasonal soups, salads, sandwiches, pasta, a kid’s menu and dessert.
Diners can book a table and order online for pickup or delivery on the Marco Roma website. They are also now delivering wine and beer to go. For more information or to place an order over the phone, call (847)-501-3333.
The Record’s Pizza Pies for Headlines series debuted this week at Grateful Bites and will run every Wednesday for four weeks. It will feature a different local pizza shop — announced on Fridays — in its coverage area of New Trier Township.
